Women
Women’s Breakfasts
These happen once a term. They’re a great opportunity for women to get together on a Saturday morning, catch up with one another chat about life and think about being a Christian woman. The women tend to shun the traditional English breakfast and have embraced the continental alternatives. They take place at a local home on a Saturday morning. Details are available from the weekly notice sheet, facebook and the weekly congregational e-mail.
Women’s Curry
After the growing success of the men’s curry nights the girls have decided to jump on the bandwagon. And who can blame them! These are advertised on the weekly notice sheet, via facebook and through the congregational e-mail sent from the church office.
Women’s Bible Study
The Women’s Bible Study meets each Wednesday morning during term time in Balham. It’s run by women in the church as an opportunity to study the Bible together, and support each other in prayer and other practical ways.
All Mums are welcome, whether you describe yourself as a Christian or not. The group currently meets on Wednesday mornings when a crèche is provided for those with young children.
One to One Bible Study
An increasing number of women at CCB are meeting informally in pairs to study the Bible together. Usually an older Christian will meet with a younger Christian. It’s a great opportunity to ask all the burning questions you haven’t been able to ask before. Some work through Bible study booklets together and some just read through and discuss one of Paul’s letters or other portions of scripture. Contact us if you would like to be linked up with someone to read with, or would like more information.
Prayer Triplets
Being a member of a prayer triplet with others in the church family is a great way to gain support and accountability from fellow Christians in similar circumstances. Most prayer triplets meet either weekly or fortnightly for a short time of prayer and discussion. Times and venues vary according to what is most convenient for the three members. Contact us if you would like to be put in touch with people for a potential prayer triplet.
London Women’s Convention
We’re enthusiastic supporters of the London Women’s Convention. It’s an annual event for Christian women, who, while tackling the many roles they fulfil, want to follow Jesus Christ and work out exactly what that means today. It is also an expression of unity amongst women from the capital and beyond, who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and seek to live by what the Bible teaches. Its aim is to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ, lived out in the lives of Christians and held out to others in this needy country.
Speakers in recent years have included Carrie Sandom, Helen Roseveare, Lizzie Smallwood and Ann Benton.
A group from CCB usually attends and the next London Women’s Convention will be advertised in church.
For more information about the next Convention, see their website.
